The Process Is the Product and Marketing

If you're an aspiring creator who wants to productize your curiosity, here's a new way how to look at this:

  1. Set out to master a thing that's meaningful to you.

  2. Document and share your journey.

Product: There will be a point where you will know enough about the subject that some people will be willing to pay you to extract that knowledge from you.

Marketing: By documenting your journey, lessons, and behind-the-scenes on the internet, you will attract like-minded people and slowly establish yourself as a credible person on the subject.

There is no downside. The worst-case scenario is that you learn stuff that's meaningful to you.

Here's an example from my own journey:

  1. When I discovered that you could explain ideas with visuals—I found it fun and meaningful.

  2. I set out to practice this craft by creating and sharing concepts around creative business, and personal development.

  3. People started to follow me for my visual ideas, and a small portion of them asked me how I made this stuff and what's my process.

  4. That's when I packaged my knowledge into Explain Ideas Visually Course & Community and shared with the audience I built through practicing this craft.

  5. More than 500 people have bought it. It's been a significant income for me and a meaningful experience for many students.
